dood! my favorite story being told one more time!! the story of reinvention. what a talented mofo you bees. and probably what a happy mofo you also bees to be back in the music. and the music also roxx, which is a definite plus.

i am in the process of a reinvention myself. still in the law/investigation bizz (37+ yrs) but now starting to work as a life coach/sober coach with lawyers, doctors, execs and mostly indian chiefs (you know the tales about injuns and their likker)

i live in samo by the sea, so if you’re skankin’ in my ‘hood give shout and i’ll try to come see a show or just have lunch.

nadine (my ex of 10 years) saw something on the internet and flipped it over to me.

i’d love to chat more but i’m going back to the tunes!!

From generation to generation!!!
I’m passing down the Uptones to my daughter!
We were visiting SF….on Haight St with my
16 year old when we went looking for the new
Uptones CD in Amoeba Records.
This brought back so many fond memories of when
I was her age and bought LP’s there and was the
biggest Uptones fan. I traveled to every gig
possible back then and it remains to this day the most
fantastic memories….skankin to the Uptones!
Thanks for all the great music you make and with the new tunes
I can continue making memories…with my teenager now.

I definately love this song from my great soulmate Eric (Hobo’s original french drummer is talking here…) But don’t listen of course nor read please, it’s useless, like the rest almost.
The emotion is all. Love. This song is one of my 3 or 4 favorite memories of my american dream band : Hobo. T.Fill.

Money can’t buy us love (right?), nor brotherhood by the way, therefore… How much money ? Sick question of course as you know.
The money subject is in fact and definately a wicked one : no money’s needed to make the whole world change. The whole problem to solve would rather be how much money we don’t need to make the (our) world change, that is: to be together out of the money system, which proved to be rather obviously the whole cause of our living problem.

Yay, thanks Matthew! I have to say you named your record company well -it’s fun to play the songs live for our fans, it was fun to record them live in the studio, and it’s fun to see them get out there into the world intact! You and Michael are an amazing team, this record couldn’t have been made with anyone else. Looking forward to more shows and another batch of recordings – we have some good ones brewing! Oh and Moose, you’re right, they put us under “Alternative!” Alternative to what? We’re a Ska band!

Capturing the Uptones in the studio is no easy feat. With the mighty Michael Rosen’s help, I think I’ve helped The Uptones make a great recording. Each member of The Uptones is a tremendous musician in their own right, but together, these Ska lovers, are an overpowering musical force. Working with them is challenging, but great fun. I hope you take the time to listen the Skankin’ Foolz Unite.

“Meditations (of a Father)” is a product of hanging out with jazz-heads, record geeks and turntable freaks. Everyone I ran with during this time where leaders in their own right, and I was lucky enough they let me chill with them. I started listening to records in genres that I never knew existed. I learned to pull samples from under the rug, and had the opportunity to take my 4-track out of doors to record, among other things, a rain storm. This new way of thinking about sound and listening to music made outside of the mass marketed US music business, and my gratitude to those people, is expressed throughout this song.
