MUSIC YOU WANT TO OWN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Berkeley, California

In the wake of one of the most disastrous years in record biz history, independent record pioneer Matthew King Kaufman and online music guru Brian Villanueva are launching FunFunFun Recordings. They are assisted in this noble effort by the MP3 Lunatics.

“It’s like a surreal deja vu, the vanquished music scene of today is really very similar to the days when we started Beserkley Records,” comments Matthew King Kaufman.

“The Internet is the medium, and music is its entertainment language. I see exciting times ahead for recorded music,” adds Brian Villanueva.

The first release from this new label is SKANKIN’ FOOLZ UNITE, a brilliant 15 song CD from the legendary ska band, The Uptones.

Formed in 1981 in Berkeley while they were still in high school, The Uptones were the first band devoted to playing ska on the West Coast and played to skanking crowds all over the West. Several of their recordings were regional hits, and for a time they were the most popular band in the Bay Area.

Members of the original band – Eric Din, Paul Jackson, and Bennie Wood – have been playing music together since then. First as Hobo and then as Stiff Richards.

The ska bug never left these lads. Now Eric, Paul, and Bennie are joined by Moose Lethridge, Adam Beach, Tim Carter, Jeanne Geiger, and Scott Bertrand to form the current lineup of The Uptones.
